Why PANT Matters

Those of you who have pets that are very dear to you, imagine how you would feel if something happened, some kind of trauma in your life and because of that trauma you have to be separated from your pet for a week, a month or longer. It is doubly hard for those who are experiencing the long term effects of a serious illness or chronic homelessness. The partnerships between The Pet Assistance Network of Topeka and the Jayhawk Area on Aging and Topeka Rescue Mission steps in to help. The JAAA and TRM intervene by providing services to the person so that they can become more stable and the Pet Assistance Network of Topeka intercedes to offer temporary food, shelter and medical services to their pets. In a month or two when the person has made success in becoming more stable there is nothing greater than seeing them reunited with their beloved pet.

One example is the video below featuring Chance and his owner.
