After Hurricane Katrina, thousands of people were left homeless and having to seek public shelters, they had to leave their beloved pets behind. Many pets were tied up in the yards of their houses and left to starve.
In 2007 a group of people with great love for animals, from Northeast Kansas, got together to discuss the plight of those in our community who have to go into temporary shelters for reasons of homelessness or a medical issue. Where would those pets go, would they be lost forever to their owner. There had to be a better way…….
